Flat roofing
TPO, EPDM rubber and modified bitumen roofs on homes, porches and additions.
Flat roofs aren't perfectly flat; they have a slight slope to drain. Because water moves slowly, seams and drains matter most.
Main systems
- TPO: white single-ply membrane with heat-welded seams, reflects sun.
- EPDM: black rubber membrane, durable and flexible in the cold.
- Modified bitumen: layered asphalt-based sheets, common on homes.
Common problems
- Ponding water that doesn't drain
- Split seams and blisters
- Leaks around drains, vents and walls
